He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman Mitchell and Georgia Davis Mitchell; his daughter Kimberly Mitchell; and his sister Sally Inman. He is survived by: his wife Pauline Underwood Mitchell; his son David Mitchell (Teresa); his siblings, Katie Nelson, Mary Henson, Beverly Butner and James Mitchell (Buggsy); his grandchildren, Tiffany Hill (David), Angela Sanford (Rocky) and Braden Hale; and his great grandchildren, Blainlee, Gandon and Bella.
