He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Ray and Gladys Ray; and his siblings, Bobby, Dickie Ray and Jane Young.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Ray; his children, Melissa "Missy" Gentry (Mike) and Edgar "Butch" Ray Jr. (Lanae) of Waynesville; his grandchildren, Brooke Adams (Karl) of Charlotte, Brian Coward of Waynesville, Josie Ray (Garrison McGuire) of Boone and Colton Ray (Emily) of Waynesville; and his great grandchildren, Caroline, Carson, Cade Ray and Oakley Elizabeth Adams. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
