She was predeceased by: her parents, Jesse Moody and Algie McElroy Moody; her husband Reverend Ernest Messer; and her grandchildren, Sherri Hill Carson and David Franklin.
She is survived by: her children, Dianne Messer of Hendersonville, Ernestine Mathis (Eddie), Sheila Messer (Gary Griffith) and Jay Messer (Donna) of Waynesville; her siblings, Lois Cagle of Waynesville and James Aster Moody (Artha) of Newport, Tennessee; and her grandchildren, Shirlene Stone, Tanya Mathis, Stephanie Mathis, Jeannie Hill, Nicole Franklin Ross, Melissa Messer, Melinda Jessup and Sarah Messer.
