He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Starnes and Lillie Mae Morgan Starnes; and his sister Mary Beth Atkinson. He is survived by: his children, Kim Cabe of Waynesville and Greg Starnes (Kim) of Clover, SC; his sister Terrie Henderson of Asheville; and his grandchildren, Allison Frost (Deric), Josh Starnes and Ben Starnes.
