With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Ben McLain Burns of Waynesville, North Carolina, born in Auburn, Alabama, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 3, 2024 at the age of 73. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Dan and Faye McLain Burns of Knoxville, TN.. He is survived by: his wife Janet Jeffcoats Burns; his daughters, Katie Burns Jones (Andrew) of Raleigh, NC, Holly Burns Freeling (Scott) of Simsboro, LA and Sarah Burns (Charlie Grady) of Cary, NC.; his grandchildren, Jackie, McLain, Robert Joe Freeling, Sayleigh and Canon; his uncle Bob Burns; his sister Becky Burns Waters of Knoxville, TN; his nephew Mark Joseph Waters (Kristin); and his great-nephew Hunter Waters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ben's honor to the Joe and Faye Burns Memorial Endowment, 114 Morgan Hall, 2621 Morgan Circle, Knoxville, TN 37996.
