He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Laurie and Nannie Gilliam Pitts; and his wife Shirley Presnell Pitts. He is survived by: his daughter Laurie Ann Pitts (Artie Hartsell) of Waynesville; and his granddaughters, Piper Lillian Pitts, Jerry Douglas of Greensboro, Marie Hicks of Waynesville and Carole Hicks of Waynesville.
