Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather" Waynesville, Adam Junior Corn, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Gay Sebron Corn and Bertha AnnaMae Williams Corn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Iva Lee Rich and an infant son Billy Wayne Corn.
He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps and worked for many years at Champion. A passionate outdoorsman, Junior was often found in the woods, hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying the natural world. He was a member of Ninevah Baptist Church. Above all, Junior was a committed family man and greatly enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Edwards Corn, of Waynesville; son, James Corn, and his wife, Jenny Carver, of Maggie Valley; daughter, Sheila Palmer, and her husband, Gary, of Jonathan Creek; a daughter, Lisa Corn Caldwell, and her husband, Jeff, of Waynesville; grandson, Joshua Corn, of Portland, Oregon; granddaughter, Anna Hightower, and her husband, Jesse, of Waynesville; grandsons, Blaze and Acien Palmer, of Jonathon Creek, Seth Palmer, and his wife, Erin, of Jonathan Creek; and great-grandson Aiden Palmer; brother, George Corn, and his wife, Joanne, of Iron Duff; and many nieces and nephews.
Many special "children" and "grandchildren", including Andrea and Charlie Rathbone, and Colten Clark. The family will receive friends from 11am-2pm on Tuesday February 27th, 2018 at Ninevah Baptist in Waynesville. Funeral services will be held after the receiving of friends at Ninevah Baptist Church with the Reverend Mike Leslie officiating.
