He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Webster and Hattie Grace Gatewood; and his siblings, James Gatewood, John Gatewood (Ethel), Joe Gatewood (Diane), Robert Gatewood (Norene), Sylvester Gatewood (Rosa), Minnie Gatewood, Catherine Gatewood, Gennette Caple (Rufus), Lula Patterson (John), Hildred McClain (Mosley) and Betty Carlton (Ron).
He is survived by: his brother Eugene; his sons, Daniel Gatewood of Wadesboro, NC, Matthew Gatewood of Morven, NC, Chad Gatewood (Clarissa) of Wesley Chapel, NC and Morris Gatewood (Sandrea) of Mineral Springs, NC.; his sisters, Hattie Grace Caple of Morven, NC. and Peccolia Bagby (Chuck) of Morven, NC.; his in-laws, Robert Morrison (Charlene) of Waxhaw, NC, Allen Morrison (Helen), Henderson Morrison (Ruthie), Brenda Reid (Robert), Michael Morrison, Linda Fisher (Charlie), Bobby Morrison (Lila), Rick Morrison (Lisa) and Artis Morrison; his grandchildren, Princess Briannia Taylor, Bradley Cameron Taylor, Matthew Ayden Reid, Collin O'Conner Gatewood, Zoe Blakney, Ava Gatewood, Ja'King Latham and Logan Lee Gatewood; and his close friend Lorenzo Steele.
