With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Vermell Swanner Jones of Washington, North Carolina, born in Beaufort, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 6, 2024 at the age of 98. She was predeceased by: her parents, Guy Swanner and Mary Jones Swanner; and her siblings, Kay Francis Swanner, Christine Allen, Delphine Wood and Clyle Swanner.
She is survived by: her children, Gaye Paul of Washington, NC, Melinda Switzer (Ricky) of Washington, NC, Lynwood "Pete" Harris (Angie) of Rocky Mount, NC and Wayne Harris (Wendy) of Farmville, NC.; her grandchildren, Patrick Paul (Elizabeth), Courtney Herring (Travis), Frederick Switzer (Cristen), Krystle Ange (Tawney), Justin Hall (Greg), Josh Harris (Haley) and Dylan Harris; her great grandchildren, Lindsey, Cierra, Madison, Paxton, Stella, Charlie, Callie, Tucker, Jonas, Simon, Eva, Rose, Paige, Joy and Silas; her husband Cleveland O. Jones; and her siblings, Geraldine Smith and Guy Swanner. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
