He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert McKinley Toler, Sr. and Ola Louise Edwards Toler; his son Verlon Darwin Toler, Jr.; his brothers, Robert Toler, Jr. and Gennell Toler; and his grandson Charlie Edward Godley, IV.
He is survived by: his spouse Lois Elizabeth Swanner; his children, Virgil Darwin Toler (Adeanna) of Washington and Charlene Martin (Wesley) of Washington; his siblings, Reginald Toler (Lynn) of Washington, Rudy Toler of Washington, Danny Toler (Gail) of Washington, Jacqueline "Jackie" Of Chocowinity and Linda Haddock (Bobby) of Washington; his grandsons, Lee Thomas Campbell and Logan Todd Vick; his stepgrandchildren, Ashlynn Martin, Wesley Martin, Jr., Samantha Basnight, Cassie Sawyer and David Olson; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Remi La, Nae Basnight and Douglas Sawyer.
