He was predeceased by: his brothers, Wilson E. Squires and Frank R. "Billy" Squires; and his nephew Major Colon Alligood, Jr. (Rufus). He is survived by: his wife Donna; his children, Richard V., Robert N. Midgett (Patsy) of Washington and Nickie M. Rich (Doug) of Nashville, NC; his grandchildren, Alyssa G. Cartwright, Natalie S. Cartwright, Savannah K. Rich and Lincoln E. Rich; and his sisters, Carol Alligood (Colon), Joyce Hatcher, Betty Sue King and Linda K. Nichols (David).
