He was predeceased by: his parents, Timothy Marvin and Peggy Ann Askew (Jennette); his sons, Johnnie Askew Jr. and Gregory Askew; and his brother Louie Hal Askew.
He is survived by: his children, Brandon Askew (Crystal) of Williamston, NC and Tonja Wells (Jason) of Greenville, NC; and his siblings, Diane Overton of Vanceboro, NC, Debra Jan Avery of Plymouth, NC and Timothy Askew (Jo) of Fort Lawn, SC. He is also survived by seven granddaughters, one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson.
