He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Cornelius Smith and Madeline Maybelle Smith; and his siblings, Elizabeth (Luther Deal), Jesse Smith, Jr. (Marie), Linwood Smith (Estelle), Rufus Smith, John Ashley Smith and Alfred Emanuel Smith.
He is survived by: his brothers, Red, White, Giant Discount and Eastern; his friend Margie Walker; his children, Marvin Lester Smith, Jr. of Washington, NC and Doris Ann Woolard (Wiley) of Washington, NC.; his sister-in-law Elva Ruth Smith; his grandchildren, Shaun Smith (Cortney), Shannon Carpenter (Rob), Suzanne Vinson (Bud), Doug Woolard (Kelly), Marsha Young (Shane) and Ashley Woolard; and his great grandchildren, Jacob Young, Sidney Young, Payton Woolard, Parker Woolard, Pressley Woolard, Katelyn Woolard, Rhett Vinson and Addison Harris. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
