She was predeceased by: her parents, Charlie Jackson Brooks, Sr. and Annie Eliza Tetterton Brooks; her husband Robert Monroe Slade, Sr.; her great grandchild Lilly Faith Everett; and her siblings, Mildred Brooks, Mary Cuthrell, Rachel Hardison, Frank Brooks, Charlie J. Brooks, Jr. and Howard Brooks.
She is survived by: her children, Robert M. Robbie Slade (Randi) of Pantego, Peggy S. Rodman (Lewis) of Aurora, Barbara S. Hardison (Wayne) of Washington, Debra S. Cooper (Shelton) of Pantego and Billy R. Slade (Pam) of Blounts Creek; her grandchildren, Stevie Van Staalduinen (Beverly) of Winterville, Stacey Van Staalduinen (Tyler Richman) of Washington, John R. Slade (Karla) of Atlanta, GA, Jennifer S. Webb (Jordan Edmonson) of Williamston, Crystal C. Everett (Rumley) of Bath, D. Slade Collins of Raleigh, David W. Collins of Raleigh, Elizabeth S. Hoagland (Brendan) of Bath, Jessica H. Woolard (Michael) of Walstonburg, Stevie G. Martin (Patrick) of Chesapeake, VA, Victoria N. Hardison of Washington, Nicholas R. Cooper (Coral) of Washington, Brandi H. Potter (Jeffery), Jeremy T. Cooper (Madison) of Pantego and Olivia S. Tyson (Brandon) of Black Jack; and her sisters, Nelva B. Swinson (Johnny) of Jamesville, Elva B. Respess (Henry) of Chester, VA and Patsy B. Rose (Charles) of Pantego. She is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
