He was predeceased by: his parents, Meggie Ray Nichols and Nellie Cherry Nichols; his wife Erna Rowe; his daughter Sarah Joy Nichols; and his sister Ernestine Reeder.
He is survived by: his sons, Michael R. Nichols (Susan) of Washington and Lee Nichols (Susan McCoury) of Washington; his grandchildren, Hunter Nichols, Logan Nichols, Damon McCoury and Melissa Nichols; his great grandchildren, Sarah Harris, Hailey Harris, Jaxson Foster and River James Payne; and his nephew Kevin Reeder of Little Rock, AR..
