It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jean R. Lewis (Washington, North Carolina), born in Beaufort, North Carolina, who passed away on April 21, 2022, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, James Fernando Ricks and Hulda Nichols Ricks; her former husband Paul Alvin Keel; her husband Julian Brown "Bill" Lewis; her son James Edward "Jimmy" Keel; her granddaughters, Laurel Nichol Matkins and Ashley Shay Matkins; and her sisters, Lavonne Phillips and Nita G. Hester.
She is survived by: her children, Randy Keel (Cindy Lowry) of Chocowinity, Sue Keel Smith (Randy) of Chocowinity, Jeanene Keel Matkins (John) of Washington and Shelley Lewis Melton (Ted) of Concord; her brothers, Larry Ricks of Washington and Buddy Hall (George-Anne) of Bulverde, TX; her grandchildren, Paul Keel, Joseph Keel, Ethan Melton, Billie Sue Short, Paula Watson and Kathryn "Katie" Smith; and her close friends, Petey (Chihuahua), Diane Adams and Mavis Evans. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren.
