He is survived by: his wife Marlene Paine Alton; his children, Jim Alton (Joann), Steve Alton, Dave Alton, Ruth Ann Alton Smith (Stephen) and Bill Alton (Tammy Foreman); his grandchildren, Alicia Alton Walter (Adam), Robert Alton, Alexis Vick Warren (Bobby) and Ryan Vick (Bree Livingston); his great grandchildren, Isabel, Emmett, Dylan and Camden; his grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Dusty Cox and Cory Cox; and his brothers, Fred Alton and Ed Alton.
