He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Carter and Dora Mae Carter; his wife Brenda Eaves Carter; his granddaughter Lauren Grace Burgette; his great grandchild Colton Burgette; and his siblings, Henry Ellis Carter, William "Dick" Carter, Ervin Carter, Danny Ray Carter and Betty Jane Holloman.
He is survived by: his sons, Joey Burgette (Melissa) of Four Oaks and Ryan Carter of Warsaw; his grandchildren, David Wayne Burgette (Christa), Payton Burgette (Blake McMillan) and Carly Burgette; his great grandchildren, Brody Burgette and Julia Burgette; and his sisters, Margaret Ann Bohn of New York and Dianne Blackburn of Goldsboro.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Community Funeral Home of Warsaw (1654 NC-50, Warsaw, NC 28398). A burial was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 at the same location.
