He is survived by: his wife Laura Vernon; his children, John Michael Vernon of Fayetteville, NC, Jesse James Sheffield (Mariel) of Salemburg, NC, Jimmy Darrell Sheffield, Jr. (Amy) of Wallace, NC and Melissa Jane Tibby of Salemburg, NC; and his siblings, Stevie Vernon and Judy Kay Vernon of Salemburg. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
