He was predeceased by: his wife Sylvia McDowell Pitchford; and his siblings, Robert Pitchford and Annie P. Evans. He is survived by: his son Sterlin Pitchford; his siblings, Edward, Lewis Pitchford, Nellie P. Shearin and Betty Jean Tanner; and his grandchildren, Victoria and Jacob Pitchford.

Flowers are acceptable, the family asks that any memorials be directed to the Reedy Creek Baptist Church.
