He was predeceased by: his father James Haggy Brooks, Sr.; his wife Jane Turner Brooks; and his sisters, Yvonne Francis, Carrie Lea Elliott, Lola Greer and Clarcie Eller.
He is survived by: his sons, David Brooks (Gail) of West Jefferson, Danny Brooks (Ann) of Wilkesboro and Dwight Brooks (Susan) of Warrensville; his grandchildren, Jamie Brooks and Danielle Perry (Kelly); and his great grandchildren, Kailey and Karlie Perry. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
