It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lena Josephine Whaley of Walstonburg, North Carolina, who passed away on January 5, 2024, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Wiley and Lena Hathaway Stancill; her husband Gilbert R. Whaley; her son Gilbert R. Whaley Jr.; and her sisters, Peggy S. Roberson, Gladys Ruth Jackson and Barbara S. Holland.
She is survived by: her daughter Debra Howard (James); her daughter-in-law Debbie Whaley; her siblings, Joseph Wayne Stancill and Myrtie S. Hedgepeth; her grandchildren, Trey Whaley, Megan Leitch (Ben) and Jamie Howard; and her pet Bailie.
