He was predeceased by: his parents, J. M. Boykin and Mertha Boykin; his wives, Faye B. Boykin and Carol C. Boykin; and his daughter Sandy Boykin.

He is survived by: his daughter Kristen McLawhorn (Mason) of Hookerton; his grandchildren, SadieLee McLawhorn and Brayden McLawhorn; his siblings, Billy Boykin (Nancy) of Wilson and Ann B. Simpson (Lloyd) of Trinity; his stepsons, Tim and Craig Craft; and his close friends, Roy Lee Wooten, Buddy Blalock, Donnie Lloyd and Jim Worrell. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
