She was predeceased by: her husband George H. Hairston, Sr.; her daughter Ronda H. Scales; her granddaughter Caroline Hairston; and her sister Molly Allamae Fulton. She is survived by: her siblings, Mable F. Johnson and James T. Fulton; her sisters-in-law, Margaret G. Fulton and Margie Hairston; her children, George Hairston, Jr., Pamela M. Hairston of Walnut Cove, NC and Deborah H. Sykes of Walnut Cove, NC; and her grandchildren, Yolanda Gee Johnnie, Billy Fulp, Jr. and Gregory D. Hairston (Christine). She is also survived by numerous relatives and friends.
