It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carolyn Gates of Walnut Cove, North Carolina, born in Surry, Virginia, who passed away on March 17, 2021, at the age of 69, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Hugh Nelson Gates, Sr. and Klyne Jones Gates. She is survived by: her siblings, Inez Gates Gough (Van) and Hugh Nelson Gates, Jr.; her nephew Jon Gates; her aunts, Savannah "Polly" Smith and Verna; and her uncle Clinton "Bunky" Midkiff.
