It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shirley Moore Carlton of Wallace, North Carolina, who passed away on April 29, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, William Hybert and Lina Harvell Moore; her husband Harry Lewis Carlton; her brother William Daniel Moore; and her son-in-law William Burke Saunders.

She is survived by: her sister Emily Moore Carr of Wallace; her siblings-in-law, Sherron Boyd Moore of Manteo and Linwood Wray Carlton (Susie) of Orchard Park; her daughters, Linda Carlton Wells (Steve) of Surf City, Emily Carlton Saunders of Wallace and Geneva Carlton Maready (Greg) of Wallace; and her grandchildren, Anna Kathryn Feeley (John), Steven Wells (Jenna), Kyle Teachey, Myles Teachey (Lauren), Burke Saunders (Lock), Dallas Saunders (Liza), Mary Kate White (Andrew) and Matt Maready (Allison).
