He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion C. Whitener and Alice Ledford Whitener; and his wife Nellie Love Whitener. He is survived by: his daughters, Donna Whitener of Winston-Salem, Wendy Rierson (Randy) of Walnut Cove and Gina Cooper (Todd) of Lexington; his grandchildren, Robbie, Rebekah, Ryan and Mason; his close friend Doris Dennis; and his siblings-in-law, Lucy Reich, Delphia Reid, Joyce Ann Love and Tommy Love.
