He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Conrad Garland and Margaret Beasley Garland; his wife Peggy W. Garland; his sisters, Julia O'Neal Allen and Ann Garland; his half-siblings, Cecil Garland Jr., William Garland, Tom Garland and Kathleen Harrison; and his nephew Jim Gribble.
He is survived by: his son Gary Garland (Deborah) of Walkertown; his niece Sara Hayes (Tom); his nephews, Tim Gribble (Jan) and William "Billy" Gribble (Cindy); his great-nephew Tim Gribble (Jessy); and also, Aurora and Phoenix. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
