He was predeceased by: his parents, June Wade Gates and Rufus Gates. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Magda Howe; his sons, Steven Gates (Michelle) of Lake Stevens, WA, Jeffrey Gates (Stacey) of Laguna Niguel, CA, Michael Howe (Gail) of Lake Wiley, SC and Bruce Howe of Chicago; his grandchildren, Canyon, Brody Gates, Anika and Ryan Howe; his great grandchild Penelope Beaudoin; and his siblings, Vicki Breazeale and Royce Breazeale.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The American Diabetes Association in Roger's memory.
