He was predeceased by: his wife Lynda Keys; his parents, William Earl and Sarah Keys (Miller); his siblings, David, Marilyn and Louise; and his granddaughter Avery Rudd.
He is survived by: his daughters, Robyn Keys, Meredith Manning (Jamie) and Kerri Rudd (Ricky); his grandchildren, Mark Evan Rose, Patrick, William, Mary Manning and Matthew Rudd; and his brother Bill Keys (Barbara). He is also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews.
After retiring from the university, he became an electron microscopist and most recently helped work on both vaccine and treatment research for the coronavirus.
