He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert G. Hoots and Betty Thomas Hoots; and his grandson Matthew Jordan Hoots. He is survived by: his wife Bonnie; his daughters, Heather (Ryan) and Misty (Brad); his grandchildren, Kinly, Cayden and Nathan; his siblings, Judith Kennedy and Rodney Hoots; and his mother-in-law Doris Minor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Ministry at Wake Forest Presbyterian Church or donate to his grandson Nathan's medical account for his fight against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy through Venmo to @cure44.
