He was predeceased by: his parents, Annie Wilhelmina Dement and Walter Grady Alford; and his stepfather Joe Perry Dement. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Pernell Alford; his son Robert Alford (Amy) of Raleigh; his grandsons, Will Alford and Clark Alford; and his siblings, Laurie Jo Dement, Nancy Dement and Ronnie Dement. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
