He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Carpenter of Washington and Lula Jane Harrington Carpenter; his wife Shirley Powell Carpenter; and his siblings, Marilene Morris and Freddy Carpenter.
He is survived by: his son Robbie Carpenter (Melissa Johnson) of Wadesboro; his grandchildren, Mitchell Sutton of Wadesboro, Colton Sutton of Wadesboro and Harleigh Johnson of Wadesboro; and his siblings, Frank Carpenter, Dan Carpenter, Harvey Carpenter (Mert Kilbaine) and Lib Simpson (Jean Pruitt) of Bluffton, SC.
