She was predeceased by: her parents, Rev. Ernest McCoy Sr. and Linnie Pegues McCoy; her husband Dewitt; and her children, Dewitt Jr. and Edward Morgan.
She is survived by: her stepdaughter Marie McIver; her siblings, Minnie Rorie, Mary Wesley Little, James Wilbert McCoy and Francis Benjamin McCoy; her grandchildren, Valerie Sellers and Derrick Ledbetter; her children, Angela Melton, Richard Melton of Pineville, NC, Carol Davis (Thomas) of Charlotte, NC, Calvin Melton (Linda) of Lilesvillle, NC, Cheryl Little (Lorenzo-Deceased) of Charlotte, NC and Lewitt Melton (Mary) of Wadesboro, NC; her stepson Bannie "BJ" McCoy (Lou Ella) of Lancaster, SC.; her siblings, Annie McLean of Charlottte, NC, Mildred Royal of Greensboro, NC., Julius McCoy of Huntsville and Ernest McCoy Jr. (Carolyn) of Charlotte, NC.; and her siblings-in-law, Lucille P. Melton of Morven, NC and Eddie G. Melton Sr. of Morven, NC.. She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The public viewing for Mrs. Melton will be on Sunday, January 31, 2021 from 1:00-4:00pm at Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina." Due to Covid-19 mandates, Smith's Funeral Directors REQUIRE that a face mask/covering be worn at all times by all attendees upon entry to the funeral home and at the graveside services. Social distancing will be enforced.
