He was predeceased by: his parents, James Clement "J. C." Burr and Hattie Grace Watts Burr; and his brother Donald Burr. He is survived by: his wife Ella Sue Mangum Burr; his children, Susan Shackleford (Larry) of Mint Hill, Joe Burr, Jr. (Lanne), Robert "Bobby" Burr (Lynn) of Little River, SC and Richard Burr (Morgan) of Locust; his grandchildren, Adam Talbert of Kannapolis, Drew Talbert of Kannapolis, Tiffany Black, Josh Burr of Oregon, Sarah Burr of Little River, SC, Ashton Davis (Logan) of Alexandria, VA and Austin Burr (Erika) of Locust; and his sisters-in-law, Wilhelmina "Boots" Whitehurst of Charlotte and Donna Burr of Wadesboro. He is also survived by his 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church (118 E Morgan St, Wadesboro, NC 28170). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 at the Anson Memorial Park (2207 NC-742, Wadesboro, NC 28170).
