He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Paul and Mary Helen Winfield Carpenter; and his wife Martha Tice Carpenter. He is survived by: his daughter Sonya C. Owens (Tim) of Mooresville; his stepdaughter Taunya Stephens of Wadesboro; his siblings, Joe Carpenter (Paulette) of Summerville, SC, Larry Carpenter (Dawn) of Polkton and Sue C. Kendall of Polkton; and his aunt Sarah Icard. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
