He was predeceased by: his parents, James H. Gainey and Viola H. Gainey; his siblings, Leo W. Gainey, James Gainey Jr., Paul Gainey, Charles Gainey, Cleartis Harris, Edith Gainey and Annie G. Burns; and his grandson Kendrick Demarcus Chisholm.
He is survived by: his wife Wille Esther Gainey; his children, Michael Anthony Gainey (Margaret), Sonya O. Chisholm, Marcus Chisholm and Rosalyn Denise Wade (Aubrey); his siblings, Peggy Gainey Simon (Haywood), Rufus B. Gainey and Ronalt Gainey (Teresa); and his aunt Nora Lee McCall. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; one special nephew.
