She was predeceased by: her siblings, Austeel "Pete" McLendon of Roxboro and Juanita Beasley; and her son Dr. Joseph D. Gatewood of Hillsborough, NC.. She is survived by: her children, Judge Sophia Gatewood Crawford, Olivia Gatewood, Dr. Algie Gatewood (Elaine) and Lawrence Gatewood (Lynnda); her sisters, Faye Lassiter and Evelyn Ruth McCarter of Palm Bay, Florida; and her sister-in-law Easter Gatewood Rhue of Lilesville. She is also survived by granddaughters, great grands, great-great grands nieces, nephews and friends.
