He was predeceased by: his son Michael Shane Tyson; his brother Derwin Tyson; and his grandparents, Caudle, Irene Tyson, Hamp and Anna Dabbs.
He is survived by: his mother Betty Lou Horne Tyson of Wadesboro; his wife Jessica Gales Tyson; his children, Eric Raymond Tyson (Jean) of Mint Hill, Ashley Nicole Ellington (Brandon) of Wilmington and Lauren Alyssa Mankin of Calabash; his grandchildren, Trace, Vincent, Tate, Sebastian and Cheyenne; and his sisters, Teresa Ray (Rodney) of Wadesboro and Melanie Phillips (Billy Ray) of Burnsville. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the local veteran's organization of the donor's choice.
