He was predeceased by: his parents, Sharack Matthews and Maggie Myrtle Autry Matthews; his wife Mabel Matthews; and his siblings, Esther Garner, Delitha Autry, Jewel Bradshaw, Jean Williams, Brent, Palestine Matthews, Joel H. Matthews and Branson Matthews. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
