He was predeceased by: his parents, Fletcher Lee and Bettie Wooten Jernigan; and his siblings, Fletcher Linwood Jernigan (Cookie), Virginia Dean Matthews, Betty Lou Maxwell and Brenda Carol Jernigan.
He is survived by: his wife Jeanette Byrd Jernigan; his children, Janet Jernigan Jackson (Scott) of Dunn and Wallace Lee Jernigan, Jr. (Melissa) of Wade; his grandchildren, Jenna Jackson, Anna Jackson, Leah Jernigan and Parker Jernigan; his siblings, Elizabeth Register of California, James Howard Jernigan (Shirley) of Vander and Sherrill Wooten Jernigan (Alice) of Godwin; and his brother-in-law Warren Matthews of New Jersey. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
