With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Hugh Stanley Matthews of Wade, North Carolina, who passed away on February 26, 2024 at the age of 79. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Hugh Matthews and Catherine Barefoot Matthews; and his wife Phyllis Holmes Matthews. He is survived by: his daughter Lana Matthews Hall (Alan) of Wade; his granddaughters, Natalie Victoria Hall and Olivia Alyn Hall of Wade; his sister Marilyn Matthews Paschal (Richard) of Nashville, TN.; and his sister-in-law Katherine Lewis (Dennis) of Fayetteville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
