He was predeceased by: his parents, Odell Story and Ona Greene Story; his daughter Minnie Arnette Story; his great grandchild Alijandra Mejia; his siblings, Lester, Wayne, Wade Story and Lafern Cook; his parents-in-law, Ralph and Grace Hayes Arnette; and his brothers-in-law, Junior and George Arnette.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Smitherman; his children, Sharon Crump (Frank) of Vilas, Holly Andrews (Terry) of Blowing Rock, Janie Dancy (Ted) of Zionville, Gail Robinson (Harold) of Vilas and Lee Story of Vilas; and his siblings, Verlean Younce (Worth) of Lenoir, Cathy Hollars (Henry) of Lenoir, Edith Arnette (O. J.) of Lenoir and Harvey Story (Dora Lee) of Lenoir. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Arnette Family Cemetery Fund, in care of Kathy Simmons, 262 Drift Lane, Vilas, NC 28692.
