He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ward and Tinnie Ester Harmon Ward; his brother James Leonard Ward; and his nephew John Leonard Harmon. He is survived by: his siblings, William Smith Ward (Deaema), Daniel Ward (Clara), Jane Harmon (Lee), Mary Sue Rose (Richard) and Lizzy Stanley (late Bill).
