He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnny Austin and Margaret Rominger South. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Harmon South; his daughters, Jamie Davis (Nathan) of Crumpler and Martha Moretz (James) of Boone; his grandson Ethan Davis of Crumpler; and his sisters, Betty Miller (Larry) of Fleetwood and Kathy Lockhart of Morganton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
