He was predeceased by: his parents, Jule Welch Tate and Fannie Pearl Jaynes Tate; his son Jule Welch Tate III; and his siblings, John Manson Tate, Jule Welch Tate, Elsie Catherine Tate Aiken and Naomie Adora Tate Ellis.
He is survived by: his wife Anthea Tate; his sons, Russell Tate Jr. of Vass and John Tate (Melissa) of Vass; his daughter-in-law Jamie Tate of Oak Island; his grandchildren, Mary Dickson (Ryan), Sarah Tate, Noah Tate, Austin Tate, Avery Tate, Cooper Tate and Mason Tate; his great grandchild River Dickson; and also, Carole Wright, Sharon Mention, Dana Garner, Farah Mae Williamson, Alexis Deaton, Stephanie Domingos, Shelia McNeill, Marife Dorman and Wilma Monroe.
