He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Furr and Marvie Furr; his former wife Celia Mae Furr; his sons, Ronnie Furr and Joseph Melvin Furr, Jr.; his grandson Michael Joseph Leitao; and his siblings, Magdalene Furr, J. W., Bobby and Ray.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Furr; his daughters, Sharon Kelly of Delco, NC, Gwen Leitao of Supply, NC and Darlene Stewart of Vass; his stepchildren, Mylinda Brewster of Vass and Eugene Ray Brewster of Vass; and his siblings, Brenda Lienby, Joe Furr of Carthage and Bill Furr of Pinehurst. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
