She was predeceased by: her parents, William Coward and Alma Coward; and her stepmother Ann Woolard (Kirby Haddock). She is survived by: her husband Kirby of Kirby's Used Cars; her siblings, Judy Woolard (Joe), Jo Kay Smith (Dennis) and Pete Coward; her nephew Will Smith (Kari); her great-nieces and great-nephews, Karis and Emma; and her nephew Drew Smith.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Beaufort County Humane Society, PO Box 33, Washington, NC 27889.
