He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Townsend and Patsy Townsend; and his brother Michael Gene Townsend. He is survived by: his son Tyler Mitchell Townsend (Gina) of Jacksonville, NC; his brother Tony Townsend (Charlene) of Vanceboro, NC; and his niece Pam Townsend of Cove City.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the West Vanceboro Church of God (2360 NC-43, Vanceboro, NC 28586). Visitation was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 at 2:45 PM at the same location. A reception was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
