It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lester E. Smith (Vanceboro, North Carolina), who passed away on August 28, 2023, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Smith and Julia Smith; his wife Bonnie Hardee Smith; his siblings, Jo Ann Harris (Harvey) and Archie Smith; and his brother-in-law Donald Hudson.
He is survived by: his sons, Randall Smith (Dawn Hommey) and Scottie Smith (Georgette); his granddaughters, Jacqueline, Shauni and Chelsea Smith; his stepgranddaughters, Emma, Ava and Lilly Yager; his sister Cynthia Smith (Ronald); and his siblings-in-law, Ray Hardee (Carol Ann), Grover Jed Hardee (Lisa) and Judy Hudson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and other extended family.
